Observational Drawing - My Objects

Tuesday 4th January 2020

What is observational drawing?

Observational drawing is when an artist observes something and responds to it with a visual representation. In our case, we took three objects which were important to us and drew them by observing the objects, value, shape, proportion, etc.

What do you need to consider when creating an observational drawing?

When creating an observational drawing, you need to take into consideration the angle from which you are drawing, the proportion, the shape, where the light hits, and the shading. These factors are what help you to create an accurate observational drawing.

What are the keywords?

proportion
scale
value
shape
line

Reflection:

In these lessons, I learnt what observational drawing is and how to draw something you see on paper. I also learnt how to make sure your drawing is in proportion by measuring distances with your pencil.

WWW:

I was able to create a piece of observational drawing
I was able to shade my observational drawing correctly

EBI:

If I shaded the AirPods with more accuracy
If I blended the front line of the laptop better

Comments

  1. great observational skills used here - eye and hand coordination
if you look closely the laptop although silver has other tones on it - if you were to create this again consider adding a light shade on the laptop
